Last week, sir Keir Starmer spoke to the Confederation of British Industry and encouraged employers not to rely on cheap labour from abroad, but invest into training of British workers. It is an important step towards helping UK economy off its immigration dependency.
He also told them to invest in new technologies, improve payments and working conditions. British workers, who are already in the country should be prioritized before low pay and cheap labour from abroad.
The CBI chief Tony Danker then said, that the government should make it easier to fill the shortage of workers in construction or transportation. It could be a new opportunity for many people in working age, who are declared inactive.
